Overview

Search for a Zurich Airport lounge and most results are about buying your way in — day passes, Priority Pass, booking a slot. The SWISS First Lounge is the opposite. It is not a pay-in lounge and cannot be booked or entered on Priority Pass. Access is limited to passengers flying First Class on SWISS or a Lufthansa Group airline the same day, plus Miles & More HON Circle members. If that is your ticket it is arguably the best lounge in Europe; if it is not, no amount of paying gets you through the door.

It sits in Terminal E, Zurich's non-Schengen pier, so it serves long-haul intercontinental departures — you clear passport control for the E gates to reach it. Opening hours track the SWISS long-haul schedule rather than fixed times, so check swiss.com against your flight before counting on it.

Flying economy or business through ZRH and after a lounge you can actually book or enter on Priority Pass? The "find all lounges at ZRH" link below lists the paid and card-access options that admit you.

Why we ranked it here

Zurich's Terminal E First Lounge — the long-haul, non-Schengen flagship of SWISS's two First lounges — leans fully into hospitality rather than airport functionality. Two private rooms come with a double bed and en-suite bathroom, effectively a hotel stopover without leaving the terminal. The à la carte restaurant has picked up its own World Culinary Award, headlined by a five-course tasting menu with wine pairing, and the wine humidor holds over 1,000 bottles. A 352 square metre terrace gives it outdoor space most First lounges don't even attempt.
